I Sell Store Inventory Items Everyday

One of the secrets to making money on eBay is selling from your Store. The fees are lower and the store inventory format allows users to view all of your items in one place. It’s the easiest way to cross-sell and promote all of your inventory, but many people hesitate to do it because they think that they will get nobody into their store.

This wasn’t always the case…

Store inventory items used to appear in the regular search listings on eBay until only a short while ago. However since these items were removed from the search listings it has become somewhat more difficult to get someone into your store, but only somewhat…

This put a lot of sellers off stores…

But, I really do believe in them.

I sell store items and make a lot of money that would otherwise be going to fees if I was selling in the regular listings.

The problem with some items is that they aren’t so HOT that they sell within day of listing on auction. I like to sell these items because it means that I have less competition from other sellers, but if I list in the auction format I lose my profits because my items could be listed for months before they sell. The will sell. I know there’s interest for them and they are very popular to certain users so I know they will bring in a good profit.

In fact, I’m just transferring my Paypal payments into my bank account right now from store listings…

Isn’t it time you worked out how to sell in your store?

The Power of Listing Every Day (and Overcoming Distractions!)

I’d love to list everyday, but man it’s tough for me to find the time to do it!

Full-time work, exercise, kids, wifey, tv… there are just so many things that demand my time. But the benefit to my business of listing everyday is huge!

I’ve been trying desparately to get myself into prioritising my time much much more and I’ve stopped reading all those emails that really don’t add anything to my bottom line. In fact they tend to reduce my funds because a lot of it is affiliate marketing 99%, information 1%. Maybe you relate!

It’s also so good to see a growing number of listings in my auctions and in my store. There’s nothing worse than having no listings and store fees, selling manager fees and picture manager fees coming out of the bank in the meantime.

Just making a few changes in the last three days has seen me able to list over 10 more items and it hasn’t really taken much! If I can keep listing like this I should have 100 listings back in my store again. Those were the good ol’ days!

Marketing on eBay Through Cross Promoting Your Items Effectively

One of the great things about eBay is that there are a lot of powerful ways to market your items and pages through cross promotion.

Cross promotion is the art of getting people who are just ‘surfing’ through listings to stay on your pages for longer. This can take a number of forms, but in particular it means adding links to your other items on each and every item listing that you put up.

One of the best ways that I’ve found for doing this to great effect is to sacrifice one or more of your best listings at any one time.

eBay gives sellers the option of featuring their listings in various ways. There are two options in particular that work in a very powerful way to do this.

The first is to feature your item in the search listings. This costs less than $20, but it puts your listing right at the top of the search listings for the keywords that are being searched. This can give your listing a lot more exposure because normally listings only rise to the top of the search pages when they are nearly complete (as the default search display option is listed in order of least time remaining on an auction).

The second and most powerful way of getting your listing noticed by hundreds of members is to feature your listing on the eBay home page! This costs a little extra, but for under $40 your listing is going to get maximum exposure.

Selling an item that is HOT at any time on eBay and featuring your item in the search rankings or on the home page attracts a lot of interest and many of the people who view your item will go on to visit your store or your other listings or your About Me page and this can attract a lot of attention to the items that you are listing at minimum cost. In particular drawing attention to the items listed in your eBay Store gives you the leverage of being able to list store items for next to nothing and then driving traffic there from your featured pages.

Also, another little known fact about featured pages is that they rank very highly in Google! And this remains the case even after your listing ends!!

What this means is that even after your featured listing is over and your item has sold you will still be getting a lot of search engine traffic to your still active listings.

I recommend buying a few items from eBay itself that have attracted over 1000 visitors and reselling them. Even if you don’t make a profit on these items you are investing money very wisely into your eBay business for a long time to come…

What’s Holding You Back From Online Business Success?

I’m a bit distracted at times. There are just so many things going on. Particularly on the internet. I mean I can spend hours just reading and responding to my email without even taking into consideration the number of links that I could be drawn into following.

I have found that when I get distracted my business suffers – significantly.

This has been one of the revelations that I’ve had recently considering Rich Schefren’s new report, ‘The Uncertainty Syndrome”.

I’ve realised that my roadblocks to success aren’t always finding products to sell and getting a high enough margin…

I’ve a lot more ‘personal’ things holding me back. Planning is probably the biggest.

It’s not really planning as such. I do plenty of that. It’s sticking to my plans. FIRST.

How much more successful could your online business or eBay business become if you found out what your obstacles are?

Get Passionate About Your eBay Business

I hate nothing more than finding a powerseller with listings that resemble my kindergarden aged daughter’s scrapbook drawings. You know the ones I mean – pictures are out of focus, listings are written in plain black font with about 4 lines of description and then… nothing! That’s it.

Surely you can get passionate enough about your online ebay business that you can take a bit of care with it.

The problem is that so many people are so focussed on profits that they lose sight of anything else. Well guess what, you are losing profits if you stop thinking about everything else. I certainly won’t buy from you.

My brain can be pretty simple at times and I am a man, which means that more often than not I am unable to do or think about more than one thing at a time. But I do think straight.

If you aren’t interested in anything but yourself and your own bottom line then I expect that you’ll skimp on packaging and possibly expose my item to damage in the post and then I’ll have to virtually call the goon squad in to get my money back. I just don’t want that kind of lame service, no matter what you’re selling or for how much.

A bit of passion has the potential to go a long way towards improving your business. What’s more, you’ll find more energy and more interest in your business and this kind of interest is infectious.

If you want more customers and more sales and more FUN in your business. Think about it…

Selling on eBay with a little more care for presentation can go a long way…

If you want to be able to succeed at selling on eBay then there are many, many things that you need to be doing on a regular basis besides even getting the right products to sell.

I think that this is one of the biggest obstacles to people finding real success selling on eBay. Marketing and sales is half the battle. There is a lot of competition on eBay, but 95% or more of people selling on eBay ignore this completely. The thing is that you really don’t need to be selling iPhones to be making money selling on eBay and chances are that if you are selling iPhones on eBay then you are not going to have a lot of success because someone bigger than you is getting them at better prices or in a more regular supply.

What if I was to tell you that what you sell isn’t nearly as important as how you sell it?

This isn’t always easy to understand, but I’ve been selling on eBay for years and in that time I’ve looked at a lot of my competitor’s listings and have been shocked and appalled in so many instances at how pathetic their presentation of their item has been that I have almost laughed at even considering them ‘competition’.

Here’s an example that I think explains it all.

When was the last time that you went to McDonalds? I’m not one of those people that has anything at all against their food. I don’t eat it often and wouldn’t feed it to my kids often, but I love the fact that you can go to McDonalds, anywhere in the world, and you know what you are going to be able to get, how quickly you can expect service and what the price is going to be. Also, I know that I can take my kids and they will have a good time playing on the play equipment while I relax for a few minutes and fill up. I don’t go expecting anything other than fast food (but to be fair McDonalds have expanded their menu quite significantly over the past few years).

See, McDonald’s has never been in the food business! Their food is not what brings people there. If you wanted good food you’d go somewhere else. McDonald’s is a marketing business pure and simple. They know their market better than any other franchise anywhere and they get people in the door by giving their market what they want again and again and again.

How can this apply to your eBay selling business?

While I’ve been selling on eBay I’ve been appalled at the presentation (or lack thereof) that many eBay sellers use for their listings. The photos that they use are more often than not out of focus and too generic to show any details. Or, the photos show the product that they are trying to sell in it’s worst light.

Do you think McDonalds would ever be guilty of that? They’d be out of business. See, here’s a Big Mac as you have seen it 100 times on McDonalds’ marketing material:

The Perfect Big Mac

The Perfect Big Mac

I know it doesn’t appeal to everyone, but to me and millions like me it really looks good enough to eat.

In this famous picture, the bun is firm and fresh, the beef is brown and the lettuce is green. It all sits so nicely together and looks large and filling. There’s melting cheese and onion and the special sauce just slightly oozing out the side…

You might even be forgiven for thinking that you have eaten this Big Mac. You see this image has been presented to you so many times that it’s lodged in your subconcious (this is McDonalds marketing magic in action!)

But here’s what you know that you really get:

Your Real Big Mac

Your Real Big Mac

!!!!!!!!!

Personally it makes me pretty sick looking at that picture. But I know I’m going to eat one again one day when I’m hungry and the kids are screaming in the car on the way home from school and I’m tired and just can’t be bothered going home and cooking…

And I’ll have forgotten what it really looks like and be thinking about the perfect marketing picture that has been burned into my head!

I’m not advocating an kind of deception and bringing all this back to selling on eBay, you obviously wouldn’t misrepresent the condition of any item that you are selling on eBay. I just wish that people selling on eBay would take a little more thought to the way that they present their listings and their photographs to make them more enticing to me.

For most things that I buy on eBay I’ve got a lot of choices of who I’m going to buy from. I don’t buy antiques or collectibles so the rarity factor doesn’t come into play with me. I probably buy the sort of things that you are selling – clothing, electronics, stationery, Cd’s, DVDs, toys…

Don’t just snap off a shot of your product sitting on the kitchen bench (with more of the dirty bench in the shot than the item) if you want me to buy it from you. I won’t. I don’t care what you’re selling or what your price is because you’ve turned me off.

Take some care with your listings and you will be selling on eBay successfully for a long time to come and make very good money.
